SAN DIEGO BASED VISUAL ARTIST

Artist Statement

“I am currently an emerging Southern California based artist who creates figurative acrylic paintings. The current “Fish Fight” series is inspired by the diverse and emotionally impactful Southern California underwater world that I am exposed to while scuba diving, swimming, and snorkeling in Southern California.

The subjects of this series are all things I have personally seen in California waters that have brought joy to my life, and often serve as a form of escapism from other aspects of life. Being underwater is a sense of peace for me, and calm serenity. These paintings try to express this calm peace through soft and simplified shapes and scenery depicting an imaginary version of what I see underwater. The bright colors depict and reflect the joy I feel in the subject matter of this series.

I am often moved by things I see underwater, and hope to share this fragile ecosystem that brings me joy and escape from the tribulations of daily life in my paintings.”
